A Salute to US!

Hat Tip Old NFO.

Hobby Lobby CEO's Open Letter to Americans

Hobby Lobby, a successful craft store that pays new employees 80% over minimum wage, is being forced to file a lawsuit to preserve their religious freedom. I doubt the expenses of the lawsuit or Obamacare Tax will help them to hire more workers. Obama is economic and ethical POISON.
A Letter from Hobby Lobby Stores CEO
By David Green, the founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.
When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God’s word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.
We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week’s biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy, we’ve raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.
But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.
Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that’s raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It’s not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it’s the same for everybody. But that’s not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won’t exempt them for reasons of religious belief.
So, Hobby Lobby and my family are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don’t like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.
My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult. The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that’s a choice no American and no American business should have to make.
The government cannot force you to follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief. They have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christian organizations including the Catholic church.
Since you will not see this covered in any of the liberal media, pass this on to all your contacts.
David Green, CEO and Founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.

How Love Changes Your Body Chemistry

Addicted to love
Dopamine is the brain's pleasure chemical. It plays a role in gambling, drug use, and, well, love. When we fall in love, dopamine is released, making couples feel elated and energetic about each other.
"That someone takes on special meaning to you and you focus on this individual because the dopamine system has been activated," says Helen Fisher, a biological anthropologist. "It is what triggers very goal oriented behavior, where no one else matters but your new partner."
Dopamine can be present in both early-stage and long-term romantic love, she says.

'O' is for oxytocin
Oxytocin is a chemical that calms and bonds couples together by promoting intimacy. "It is what hugging, kissing and touching are made of," says Fisher, a visiting research associate at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.

Courageous Bunni

I have been in shock since the news of Amusing Bunni's illness came out. This is why I have been at a loss for words lately here on my blog. It has shaken me to the core. Then I am reminded of what Bunni would do. Whip out an adorable picture to try and cheer everybody up.
Despite the fact that Bunni is already suffering pain and weakness from her disease, she continues to nurture those around her like she nurtured us all these years in the blogosphere. She has been cracking jokes with her doctors and nurses, breaking the tension and cheering THEM up.

Bunni, I just want you to know that I see you.  I appreciate you.  And I love you.

Scandal Just Got Crazier! Gen John R. Allen ensnared in probe.

l to r, Gen Petraeus, Dr. Kelley, Jill Kelly, Mrs. Petraeus
Will we get a hearing on Benghazi this week? Or will sex scandals keep us glued to TMZ.
By Craig Whitlock, Monday, November 12, 10:00 PM ABOARD A U.S. MILITARY AIRCRAFT — The FBI probe into the sex scandal that led to the resignation of CIA director David Petraeus has expanded to ensnare Gen. John R. Allen, the commander of U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced early Tuesday. According to a senior U.S. defense official, the FBI has uncovered between 20,000 and 30,000 pages of “potentially inappropriate” emails between Allen and Jill Kelley, a 37-year-old Tampa woman whose close friendship with Petraeus ultimately led to his downfall. Allen, a Marine, succeeded Petraeus as the top allied commander in Afghanistan in July 2011.

Did Obama Spend Humanitarian Aid for Libya on Weapons? #coverup

By Doug Hagman, Canada Free Press:

Both sources agreed that it is difficult to speculate whether Petraeus decided to extract himself from the leverage that the controversy had over him by the Obama regime on his terms, or whether his resignation was conducted solely by the terms of the Obama regime. Otherwise, both sources agreed that his resignation would buy the administration some valuable time, and the change in status of Petraeus as the active CIA director would also have an effect on the manner in which he is required to provide testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee. The change of status, from an active CIA official and government employee, to a citizen bound by far reachingconfidentiality agreements, would change his ability to testify before the committee. “He can also lawyer-up,” added one source.

According to another CIA source, the resignation of Christopher Kubasik, president and CEO-elect of defense and aerospace company Lockheed Martin, announced on the same day as Petraeus, might have ties to the events at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. “There is a relationship between Lockheed Martin and the defense department, as well as the CIA, that ties into current events in Turkey and Syria. This is particularly relevant in the operation taking place in Benghazi and when investigation into where the ‘black-ops’ money went. Don’t forget, Congress appropriated money, at the behest of Obama, for humanitarian aid, not weapons.”

Like Petraeus, Kubasik cited an “inappropriate relationship” for his resignation. “The timing is beyond coincidental, and the operation much too big for this to be merely coincidental.”

Both intelligence sources interviewed for this report agree that there is an exceptional cover-up campaign taking place. “All roads lead to Benghazi, and this cover-up is exponentially bigger than anything we’ve seen in Watergate and the Iran-Contra Affair combined. The American people are being lied to at every turn, and the Obama administration has become emboldened by the election results and a disinterested media.”

Phasing Out Obamacare WILL Still Be Possible in 4 Years: Plan

One of the most crushing aspects of this week's election victory of Barack Obama is that Obamacare will be implemented, making it SO much harder to repeal. But not impossible. The issue is that real people will be on the Obamacare rolls, and a flat-out repeal will cause hardship and fear.

The best solution is to break the operation up into 50 small pieces and dole it out to the states. This rewards those states who opt out of Obamacare. The others who want to milk the national treasury will inherit responsibility for the system, and through a phase-out period, they will put the most needy people back onto Medi-Cal, Medi-Caid or whatever state program they were using in the first place.

Simultaneously, common-sense health care reforms can be implemented, improving affordability and the health of the nation at the same time.

Obama thinks he can run out the clock on Libya, but he and his administration must be called to account for telling rescue forces to "stand down" and leaving Americans to be slaughtered.

Sunday, November 4, 2012

I found this on a ning group though a link on Twitter. Unless you have spent time in the armed forces, this letter should be read in its entirety, which is why I did not cut the post in half and link it, as I normally do. The historical background is crucial to understanding the damage that the Obama Administration has done to our military. Failure to hold the culprits accountable will make that damage permanent. This is serious.

"Thanks Larry Reams for forwarding this to me to post for PFA members.

There are several nuances to this story that make it extremely important, besides the simple fact that the Administration didn't prepare, didn't respond to the attack, and has continually lied about the whole mess.  Their effort is, obviously, with the help of a compliant (complicit?) media to push everything past the election and let the story "cool off" so when it all comes out it will be "old news" and dismissed out of hand.  It is quite likely that they will succeed and, lost in the 24 hour news cycle, the event will no longer be considered “relevant”.

Nothing could be further from the truth.  There are a number of consequences that will have long lasting, severely detrimental impact on the physical security of this Nation.  I intend to discuss one of them in this paper.  It is the one least likely to surface in the thoughts of most of our citizens because it is not perceived as personally relevant to them.  They are wrong because (coupled with other items) it will drastically impact the morale and effectiveness of our military forces.  That is not a guess or an assumption, it is a historically proven statement of fact.

Let me begin by talking about events of a long, long time ago.  While it was within my lifetime, most of you look at WW II as really ancient history.  Yet, one of the most significant elements of the Battle of Britain points out the importance of what I am going to say.

The Germans had more aircraft of all types than the English.  In many ways (and with very few exceptions) English airplanes were inferior to the German combat armada.  The pilot experience factor also favored Germans, particularly at the start of the air battle over England.  So, one has to ask, “What allowed the British to win that battle?”  There were several factors, but the most important was a combination of three factors that worked in the British favor.  First, British pilots were fighting over and for their homeland.  Second, if a British pilot was shot down the aircraft was lost, but in most cases, the pilot survived to fight another day.  Third, when a German pilot was shot down, the very best he could anticipate would be to be met on the ground by a hostile civilian with a weapon of some sort.  In other words, if a German airplane was lost, as a rule, they also lost the aircrew because even if they made it to the Channel, the likelihood of being picked up by a friendly boat was minimal.  Therefore, every German pilot knew that every flight might be a one-way trip (which will cause a dramatic increase in the number of aircraft malfunctions).  And, the German Air Force quickly lost their most experienced pilots – dramatically shifting their loss ratio when confronted with ever more experienced British pilots.

Why did I take so much of your time on this piece of history?  Because those simple factors had a major impact on who won WW II AND the lesson was not lost on US military planners then and now.  They knew Americans primarily fly and fight over hostile territory.  To avoid as much of the negative aspects of that simple fact caused the birth of combat aircrew recovery, first seen in the Korean War.  Here is where the phrase “Leave No Man Behind” first became important.  That phrase is a motto of the Rangers and other Special Operators and is the root of the USAF Rescue Force (motto: “That Others May Live”).  In terms of combat, that translates into another phrase, “Keep the Faith” – which, without exception, means, “No matter what, as long as it is physically possible, if you are in trouble, we will come get you”.

Which brings me to the Benghazi debacle -- one of the fall-out items is that, for some reason, yet undiscovered, the entire command chain BROKE “THE FAITH”.  They did the unpardonable thing by not coming to the assistance of our people under attack.

If you haven’t been there it must be hard to recognize how important that factor becomes.  To break the faith is virtually without precedent.  Long ago I was in the aircrew recovery business during combat operations.  Although we also picked-up anyone who was in trouble, our primary mission was downed aircrew in North Vietnam and elsewhere.  Every pilot that took-off on a strike mission knew that if he was shot down we would come get him and we would risk everything in the attempt, as long as there was even the slimmest chance of getting him out.  That knowledge provided a level of, perhaps subconscious, security that allowed men to fly over and over, day after day, against extremely well defended targets.  I know the Army and Marines felt the same about the Dust Off pilots (Army helicopter pilots that did almost all of the in-country (South Vietnam) recovery and regularly flew into what we used to call extremely hot areas to keep the faith.  God Bless them all.

The point is that the Benghazi betrayal punched a hole in the "faith" that the US will leave no man behind.  Without that confidence the attitude of those who deliberately go into harms way will suffer.  It takes years to rebuild both the confidence and the attitude it produces in combat personnel.  We are now in an interim period.  What happens from now on will make a huge difference.  We who have and will in the future go willingly into harm's way don't like it, but will understand a one-time happening; if those that committed this heinous act are surfaced and appropriately punished.  If they are allowed to skate, regardless of the outcome of the election, the damage done to the military is incalculable.

The choice is up to you – most of you may understand what I just said, but will not totally comprehend the enormity of what happened.  Perhaps if I close with some civilian examples it will help.  How would you feel if you were on a sinking boat and the US Coast Guard might, or might not, find it politically inconvenient to come to your assistance?  What if you were in an accident and the Medical Team’s response depended on whether or not someone in DC thought it was politically damaging his or her political career to deploy them?  You say that wouldn’t happen?  Well let’s look at New Jersey right now. Folks providing life saving assistance were turned away because they didn’t belong to the “correct” labor union.  And those are truly comparatively minor things.  Suppose that before you got in the boat, or car, or train you knew that during the next few minutes, hours, or days someone would be deliberately trying to kill you and your only lifeline depended on the personal political impact on an election?

It is time for all the citizens of this great Nation to “Keep the Faith” with those who go into harm’s way on their behalf.  Support our troops and join us in the Black Ribbon Campaign to awaken our politicians and the press to their obligations so that we can get to the bottom of this despicable action, determine who is responsible, and hold them to account.

With respect,

Robert D. Jones, LTC, USAF, (Ret)"

Northern Virginia Ground Report: Lots of Romney Supporters #tcot

Found in comments on Hillbuzz. Jules H comments:

Here in northern Virginia (DC suburbs and supposedly an Obama stronghold) I have seen more R/R signs than Obama signs.
I spent most of yesterday doing GOTV (get out the vote) canvassing. I cannot recommend enough how good this is for those of us who tend to be anxious and fearful. Ask your local office to pair you with an experienced campaigner. It gets easier the more you do it, and then it gets fun and soon you will be doing it on you own, as I am now.
Yesterday I canvassed my own street and had a list of people who were supposedly all Romney supporters. This is why GOTV is fun, because you are basically touching base with mostly supportive people, although the lists are often out of date and you get the occasional wrong address who is an Obama voter, but no one has been ugly to me so far. And other Romney supporters are often very encouraging and thank you for what you are doing.
If you canvass in your own neighborhood, you get to know which of your neighbors are on the same side you are, and that is great. The man across the street from me (who is black) was on my list and I asked him straight up if he was a Romney supporter (must have had a little doubt in my voice) and he got a big grin on his face and said YES I am! Spent a few minutes chatting with him and getting to know one of my neighbors to whom I now feel more connected because we support the same candidate.
I HATE selling anything and could not be a salesman if my life depended on it, so learning to work the phone banks and go door-to-door was a huge stretch for me – but I felt I had NO CHOICE. To quote from one of my favorite books, The Little Prince, “I was carried beyond myself by the inspiring force of urgent necessity.” It has been very good for me, an experience I would not trade for anything. I felt the same in 2008 even though we lost, but it is going to be so great when we win on Tuesday!
Leftists have intimidated conservatives for too long with their lies about our being hateful and backward. We are the more tolerant and compassionate group, the ones who give the most to charity, work the most in volunteer efforts, and pay the most taxes. With their spiteful lies about us, the Left has pushed many kind and decent people into the closet about what they believed. It’s time we all CAME OUT and showed the world who we really are. This is what Mitt Romney has done in the face of the millions of dollars spent lying about him. He has shown America who he really is and we must do the same!

Why are 30 People saved by Tyrone Woods not speaking out for him? #tcot #Benghazi

Glenn Doherty and Tyrone Woods, Navy SEAL Heroes
Why do I not know ONE name of ONE person of the 30 that Tyrone Woods and Glenn Doherty saved from certain death at the hands of Libyan Al Qaeda terrorist jihadists on 9/11/12? Obama sure as heck wasn't sending in the cavalry. In fact, he told the cavalry to "Stand Down". Woods and Doherty disobeyed orders and saved the 30 consulate workers.

Why are they not speaking out about their experience? Were they under fire? Were they choking on smoke? Were their cars attacked on the way to the airport? When did they originally call for help? What answer did they get? Why so silent about the man who gave his life so they could live?

FBI Spends Measly 3 Hours Investigating Benghazi, Overlooks documents

The US government denied requests for security in August and September 2012. A Libyan policeman was seen photographing the inside of the embassy compound around 6am on September 11, 2012. This is now confirmed via a cable found under the ashes in Benghazi, 6 weeks after the attack. One of several sensitive documents left behind by the FBI. Shouldn't the FBI have shown up with a crew from SERVPRO and packed up the entire building so that documents could be perused at leisure later? They only inspected the compound for 3 hours then left?

The most haunting part of the story is what was written on Christopher Stevens bathroom mirror, "I am Chris of the dead."
The concerns about police surveillance exhibited in the letters to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Benghazi police chief cast further doubt on early reports that a spontaneous protest was to blame for the attack on the U.S. consulate -- reports that the State Department has disavowed. They also appear to contradict an Oct. 9 State Department briefing on the consulate attack, during which a senior State Department official claimed that there had been no security incidents at the consulate that day. "Everything is calm at 8:30 p.m," the official said. "There's nothing unusual. There has been nothing unusual during the day at all outside."
These letters were found a month and a half after the attack, despite a visit to the compound by FBI investigators. Other documents found at the TOC building include a printout of an unclassified Sept. 9 email between Stevens and David McFarland, the head of the U.S. Embassy's political and economic section, inquiring about meetings for the ambassador's upcoming visit; telephone numbers and names of embassy staff; and a hotel bill from Stevens' 2011 stay at the Tibesti Hotel in Benghazi.
The continued threat to U.S. personnel in Benghazi may be the reason these documents escaped the FBI's attention. With suspected militants still roaming the streets, FBI investigators only had limited time to check the consulate compound. According to a Benghazi resident who resides near the consulate, the FBI team spent only three hours examining the compound.
The FBI declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation.

Unbelievable! Nonunion Utility Crews Turned Away From Sandy Recovery

These union goons better back off and put the welfare of residents FIRST!
The hurricane-ravaged east coast has been receiving north Alabama help, but crews from Huntsville Utilities learned they'll be doing work in Long Island, New York instead of in New Jersey.
Crews from Huntsville, as well as Decatur Utilities and Joe Wheeler out of Trinity headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees.
