Machine Gun exploded on my Missouri trip - video

I visited relatives this weekend in Missouri, and we happened by a gathering of gun enthusiasts.  I had a good perch on top of somebody's pickup truck when the 50-caliber machine gun misfired. I don't believe there were any injuries. The explosion is at the end of this first video.

Welcome back to beautiful Missouri. We sure know how to have us a good time, don't we? Was there beer involved? And Bar-B-Q, too?

My neighbors down in the valley below us was shooting Tannerite yesterday, creating lovely explosions to greet the day.

I LOVE livin' here!

Somthing isn't right about that gun (I mean before it exploded). It looks odd, the dimensions seem off- homebuilt?

Cool stuff Opie! Was that first one a Mini-Gun?

I had a 50 mounted on my Deuce and a half a couple of times. They're a blast to fire. A did visit the range last Friday.

I think they use a kerosene base in those flame thowers ... just a guess because of the black smoke.

Sometimes on the M-2 barrel comes slightly unthreaded and the resulting additional headspace creates this sort of blowback. Since I wasn't there, I can't say for sure, but that would be my inexpert diagnosis.

The M-134 sure puts out an impressive volume of fire.

Cat, these activities were followed by a crawfish boil with lots of beer. Oh yeah. I sure enjoy visiting my relatives in Missouri. Where else can you go and watch machine guns after eating a hearty lunch and drinking sweet tea.

chup, yes, there might be something home-built about the whole thing. I think one of the people I talked to said something about their family being involved in making the tripod.

Odie, it was indeed a mini gun. Woohooo!

LL, thank goodness nobody got hurt. I hope it doesn't take too much to repair the gun.

Odie, I think that the flame thrower (M2-2) uses napalm (gasoline and a thickening agent like ivory soap) with a nitrogen propellant. I have very little experience with weapons so I may be wrong.

However, I do love the smell of napalm in the morning...

Stand well away from LL. I think lightning is going to strike him.

That flame thrower might be a nice alternative to a shotgun for home protection.

Wofat, no need for lightning with all that firepower.

Kid, or even toasted marshmallows.

I agree with LL, head spacing is a bugger with old .50's. Has to be redone every time you take it apart. Probably is home assembled, you don't find those guns sitting at the gun store often, but parts are everywhere.
