What do you think about Santorum? The Conservative Lady likes him. Maybe he is a good candidate.
And Just A Conservative Girl pointed out that Bachmann even said he would make a good Attorney General or VP if she is made President. That is high praise.

Newt all the way baby.
Hi Opus,
Just stopping in to wish you and your loved ones a very Happy and Blessed New Year!
Rick Santorum and Michele Buchmann are the most conservative of the bunch.
I've liked Sanatorum from the beginning, he just could not get any traction or so long I had my doubts. I hope he wipes the floor with the rest of them, especially Romney and Gingrich. Ron Paul is a crazy dangerous kook.

Well there's a reason he's not a senator anymore. He lost his own state by almost 20 points. They totally hate his guts in Pennsylvania, so I'm not sure how he'll do in the general. He also got labeled as the "most corrupt" US Senator when he was in, which will make a swell ad.
He gives me the creeps, to be honest.
Of course, I'll admit I'm a Paul girl once I did some major reading on his foreign policy. Mark my words, four years from now, we'll be saying how prescient he was on that like he was on the Fed.
I have this thing about putting people with small children in the white house. I don't like it, I think it is bad for child rearing and I question the judgement of those who are willing to do it.
So he is out for me. There is good and bad with him. He is big supporter of The Patriot Act and he voted for NCLB. Two other reasons I wouldn't vote for him.
You might want to read the piece republicanmother did on him first. Looks like standard issue politician to me.
As far as foreign policy, I can't understand what benefit having our forces on the ground all over the place does for us. I honestly can't.
Having Carrier battle groups sailing around would put us in the thick of things in a few hours at most, so why do we need our sons and daughters living in some hellhole in the Middle East?
German, Japan, etc, not so much hellholes, but what is the benefit there? I can't think of any. Honestly and respectfully.
I'm with Debbie. Now he has problems, they all do, but is one of the better ones. One of his big problems isn't a political, but social problem. He isn't exciting. As I've said elsewhere, that is a good thing, in my mind. But will that work with a 24/7 connected, wired, and on the move population who wants more, bigger, faster, right now? Lord I hope so.
I should add, no politician can save us at this point. We aren't going over the cliff, we are there. And we will have to bottom out. It is more a question of, what then? We need tried, true, unexciting, but actionable. I think he would do better than the others.
Now that Santorum is getting some steam, the negatives will be coming out on him, too. There is NO PERFECT CANDIDATE. Some are obviously more conservative than others. I will back whoever is the GOP nominee.
As for Ron Paul...He may be right on the Fed, but his foreign policy scares me. Those newsletters bother me, too. I just hope he doesn't decide to run as a third party candidate.
Kid, there are other options to complete disengagement than having our forced all over the place. Any president who would completely take that threat off the table is not representing America properly.
Walk softly and carry a big stick.
Doesn't mean we use the stick all the time, but the world is a dangerous place. And the only thing some people understand is force or the threat of force.
Anything less leads to Carteresque malaise.
Opus, I agree. I believe having carrier battle groups around the hot spots is the way to accomplish that. What good is a platoon of soldiers in Kandahar, Afghanistan plinking away at the endless supply taliban combatants ?
Maybe they save a few women from the torture of Islam, but we can't be there forever and we can't save any appreciable number of them. Is that worth hypothetically - your daughter dodging IEDs in Afganistan? For me the answer is no, and I'll respect your whatever it is. I'm just clarifying.
I am supporting Rick Santorum for president. I recommend his book, "It Takes a Family" because in it he explains that broken families in our society will cause bigger government, so we need policies that support the traditional family as the basic unit of society. His book was a response to Hillary Clinton's "It Takes a Village". In regard to spending, I hope you will consider this video at Resist Tyranny. Please watch all the way through. Thanks.

Santorum is the most consistent conservative in the race. Bachmann is a very close second.
The reason that Santorum lost so badly in Pa is 1)2006 was a very bad year for the GOP and 2)Casey Jr. flew on his father's coattails and claimed he was pro-life when he has proven that he is anything but pro-life. Now people know what Bob Casey Jr. is really like, and that's nothing like his father.
I endorsed Rick Santorum - http://teresamerica.blogspot.com/2011/12/official-endorsement-i-endorse-rick.html
If Santorum is the Republican candidate, gird up yourself for another four years of the ObamaNation. He's even more boring than Romney.
Happy New Year
Santorum can't win. I have come to the sad conclusion that Romney will be the candidate. But, Romney can beat Obama. Romney can turn around the economy. He is a decent, moral man.
Romeny needs toembrace the Tea Party and its leaders, like Demint and Tea Party ideals of small government.I am sure Romney now knows how Americans feel about government health care.
