I Have a Sick Feeling About The Second Amendment

Only 5 of 9 supreme court justices supported American's right to keep and bear arms. And Obama is about to appoint ANOTHER justice after only 18 months in office? Is anybody else getting a bad feeling about this?

Interesting. I never knew the Chicago case was challenged by a black man wanting to protect himself from drug gangs and dealers in his neighborhood. The news forgot to report that side of the story.
And I challenge Mayor Daley's facts. In Switzerland, every home has a firearm. There was ONE murder last year. Disarming the good guys is not helpful.

Kagen will replace John Stevens, presuming that the Senate confirms her. That maintains the balance at the present level. We can only hope that the remaining conservative justices stay healthy.

Problematically, an attempt to seize firearms on a nationwide basis would lead to insurrection and lines being drawn in the sand that are in nobody's best interests.

LL, that is what has got me worried.

..and the lines at the gun shows will grow long again.

I've got a bad feeling about everything that Chairman BaO does.

On the bright side, it appears that more and more people do as well.

If he and his ilk keep pressing, then it is really is likely that the result will be armed conflict. Our ability to oppose effectively their enslavement of us is exactly what they fear.

Evil always fears good.

By the way, Thomas Sowell just wrote a good article (as always) on the issue of gun control laws. (It's linked at my blog, or you can find it at Jewish World Review.)

A gun-toting society is a polite society.

Viewed no doubt, as a crime wave.

I said that very thing to someone yesterday Opus :

This was just one more Kagen away from disarming us all. This upcoming election is so important even as much as Obama's 'immaculation' as Rush calls it> Another 2 loons and this country is lost to activist judges on the freaking high court.

So if Thomas or Scalito retire and democrats control the senate and are able to put a 5th liberal judge on the court, will the court respect the previous court's 2nd amendment ruling? Of course not!
The liberals are trying to turn us into a third world country, where the rule of law is whatever they wake up each morning and think it should be that day, based on who's in power that moment. Chaos and dysfunctional are the countries that embrace the tyranny of this type of governing. I keep saying, if these liberals want to change something, go change the pathetic countries that scam us for donations...constantly....that end up in the hands of tinpot dictators. And how about all these illegals that are demonstrating against strong US borders

Liberals hate the military. I have seen hateful anti-military sentiments expressed first hand...by Harvard educated elitists. Kagan is a lying Hussein ass kisser.

A few thoughts here:

The first is all of us should be praying for the good health of conservative justices on the Supreme Court because I think we are dangerously close to returning to a time when the Supreme Court nearly destroyed America with its pro-communist ideology. Few people are aware that Chief Justice Thurgood Marshall actually argued in favor of transforming the United States into a parliamentary government.

My second thought is that while we may see ourselves as Americans, we are actually citizens of states. You are a Californian, and I am a Floridian. Our basic rights and entitlements come to us through state law. If our states allow us to own firearms, and have licenses to carry firearms, the federal government may not decree otherwise. And as LL pointed out, such an attempt would result in a major insurrection.

I believe our relationship with our respective states is our only guarantee that America can survive this 60-year assault by communists. Our states must insist upon their independence and sovereignty. I would like to see the states convene a Constitutional Convention one day, and in that process, repeal Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, and all of the 16th and 17th Amendments. Then we may get our country back without another civil war. Without our states, the America we love is in serious jeopardy.

Thank you, everyone. This is a serious issue. Maybe one of the most serious of our time. I appreciate your thoughtful responses.

I'm very concerned too, Opie. We must pray every day the good Justices stay healthy. Obummer is stacking the court with commies!
I need to go to the gun store, but my graffitti problem is all consuming now. I wrote in my blog comments the latest. Thanks for your concern and nice comments!

It's not as bad as it could be Opie. He is replacing liberal Stevens with his nominee. The vote would be 5 to 4 with the proposed court.

I just don't understand how any justice on the Supreme Court could find against a Bill of Right. They are sworn to uphold the Constitution, not abolish it.

Opus #6 said...

Odie, that is exactly what is so scary. It should be 9 to zero.

Exactly, Opus. This decision is disturbing in that it reveals how far from our Constitution we are and have moved. This is alarming (to say the least). Any totalitarian knows that he cannot be successful in tyranny if the people are armed. That's the whole point of the 2nd Amendment.

Further, and Ann Coulter wrote a great piece about this years ago, you're right that when the good guys are armed there is statistically LESS crime, FEWER gun crimes. Someone's going to think twice about mugging someone or car jacking them or performing a home invasion if there's a chance they'll get shot dead in the process. The states with carry laws and less-strict gun laws all back this up. It's just fact . . . an inconvenient truth to the loons who think the country will be safer when only criminals are armed. That just makes zero sense on its face.

The 4 Justices that voted NO are violating the Constitution and our constitutional rights. This shows how liberals just want to shred the constitution. This 5/4 ruling was way too close for comfort. We best hope and pray for all the conservative justices to stay healthy and not retire at least until a proper POTUS is elected and a proper replacement can be tapped. The Supreme Court is being overrun by Leftist activist justices that have no regard for our laws and our constitution. We must reverse course and save the Land of the Free.

And what must be said over and over to all who will listen, and those who do not care to listen-be forceful; in reminding them about our civil rights that they used to yell about; The Bill of Rights are Untouchable By Any Government. Amendments 1-10 of the Constitution are, the Bill of Rights. The only problem is that the Treacherous/Treasonous enemies of this Country will bring in the U.N. Military, who could care less about our Supreme Law the Bill of Rights and Constitution!
