The Arizona Law Is WORKING!

Maybe this is why Obama and Calderon are all "wee-wee'd-up".

This news story is also trying to create some sympathy for the landlords of the illegals. Maybe they shouldn't have rented to them in the first place? And the family packing up and moving to another state just highlights the need for the Federal government to do what it is meant to do. We asUS citizens are commpassionate towards those in need, but we cannot continue down this path. Open borders have gotten to be too much of a liability in this terrorist-filled world. We cannot help or protect anyone if we do not know who or where our enemies are. We have to crack down and enforce the Federal Immigration law, which is one of the duties specifically given by the Constitution. As a (former)Constitutional Law Professor" Obama ought to be well aware of that fact. Shamefully, he doesn't care. His predecessors didn't do too good at it, either, but given the constant threats to our nation, he certainly needs to make it a top priority. Instead, he is belittling AZ for taking it into their own hands, and by default, belittling all the states that have similar statutes. California included (ever hear of 834B?)

I just see a family who have been working hard, contributing to their adopted country, staying on the right side of the law. I can't imagine how bad things must be in life for you to have to leave your home country, to illegally enter an alien nation (and spend all your life wondering if you'll be deported and lose everything you've worked hard for), and probably never be able to get back to visit friends and family. I have zero compassion for people who enter another country purely to claim welfare (I have little compassion for nationals who do that!) but I don't see this and many other families adhering to that tabloid stereotype. And those poor children! Every day I wake up grateful to live in the most brilliant country on earth knowing that I have opportunities in life that billions can only dream about and I am very grateful. Forgive me for being a bleeding heart liberal and wanting some of my fellow human beings to have the same chances as myself and my kids ...... those chances being largely due to a complete accident of birth.

Opus #6 said...

Loralee, open borders are ridiculous after September 11th. Are we not allowed, as a sovereign country, to control our borders?

Opus #6 said...

Cambridge, I know you have a good heart. The UK is lucky to be on an island. It makes it so much easier to control the borders. The US is a generous country. We have always had immigration. We love our immigrants. We want to allow immigrants to enter legally, with their heads held high.

The War Planner said...

..well, the last few frames say it all: "CBS News.."

And the heart-rending remark that the mother of 10 makes about '..a criminal is someone who breaks the law, not a person who works.."

It is beyond supremely annoying. One should have have little or no sympathy for those whose very first act in this country eventuates the instant they cross the border.

All else is built upon that deportable felony.

Red said...

I'm sorry. Those people inflict this kind of hardship on their children. They know full well the extent of the damage their actions can cause yet they choose to involve their children then plead mercy. They have ten kids and both parents are out of work. Who do you think is footing the bill for their subsistence? Come to this country they right way. It is possible. It can be done. Mexico needs to stop acting like the 51st state or a shadow state of the United States. Shame on Calderon for not taking care of his people.

Opus #6 said...

TWP, we get especially annoyed because we live in So Cal, and suffer the degradation of our health and school systems and state budgets. The crime of illegal entry is not victimless.

Opus #6 said...

Red, it irks me that this lady acts like her fifteen years entitle her to everything.

CambridgeLady said...

Hi Opus .... I know you have a good heart as well. I just wonder why some way can't be found to make people like this legal as they are clearly wanting to contribute with their taxes and hard work and be good citizens. I found it very "easy" to enter the USA to live perfectly legally .... why should it have been straightforward for us but seemingly impossible for many Mexicans, your neighbours? The "system" is maybe at fault, not the people. I can't begin to comprehend what immigration, legal or otherwise, looks like in the Southern states of the USA. We have a lot of immigration to the UK - being surrounded by water changes very little - we have many migrants from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and I read there are 182,000 from the USA. Many (most?) make a fantastic contribution to the British economy, some don't .... but the same can be said of our nationals :S It's a massive issue .... the reason I commented is because, for me, there is a disconnect between the title of the post and the video. Relocating these people (to another part of the USA ironically) isn't my idea of something "working" - it's creating misery for the people involved, will be bad economically for local renters and businesses who need these people, and is simply moving the problem elsewhere. Just my opinion ....... Best wishes, CL

15 years, 10 kids!, and she STILL doesn't speak English? I have a huge problem with that. Huge.

E Pluribus Unum

Only murderers are criminals? Good, I'm glad she's leaving. Hope she takes her 10 kids to San Francisco or Boston.

Opus #6 said...

Cambridge, thank you. What I meant by the title is that Arizonans have decreased the illegal alien population in their state by 20% in a couple of weeks. Pretty astounding, really.

And since the AZ law only mirrors the federal law, we should enforce our laws in our country and see what happens.

Linda said...

It is a sad situation. The children will be the ones to suffer, but I have to agree that our borders do need to be protected. I did notice that they are driving a very nice vehicle. I wonder how they got that?

Opus #6 said...

Fuzzy, good point. Why did she never learn English? Why does she not think anything short of murder is a crime?

Opus #6 said...

Linda, good eyes! HA. Maybe the lady should move to Hollywood. That's where people buy BMWs and live in an apartment.

Fuzzy Slippers said...

@ CL, you wrote, "I found it very "easy" to enter the USA to live perfectly legally .... why should it have been straightforward for us but seemingly impossible for many Mexicans, your neighbours? The "system" is maybe at fault, not the people."

Um, it sounds like you are suggesting (or stately rather openly) that you believe that you had an easier time of emigrating legally than someone would from Mexico. Are you kidding me? Our immigration laws are not race-based, what are you talking about? And if you hadn't found it easy to emigrate legally, would you have come anyway, illegally?

From what I heard from all three candidates for PM in all three debates was that illegal immigration is a huge problem in the UK and that it is putting an added strain on your already overloaded with entitlements economy. Where does this holier than thou attitude come from? I am sick to death of liberals supporting what is in effect (sort of) "legal" slavery. How can you claim to care about human beings and still defend their exploitation and abuse? It's inexplicable to me.

Trestin Meacham said...

Typical liberal argument when confronted with facts they reach for emotion. I guess murder is the only crime now?

Mustang said...

I lived along the Texas Mexico border for a long time; before we get teary about the children, recall that this woman used her children as pawns to achieve immigration status in the United States. Recall that whenever her family is ill or injured these people are entitled to free medical care at any hospital. Recall that the American taxpayer paid for educating this woman’s ten children.

Illegal aliens know this, of course. None of them have any qualms about it. That is the true situation. It is true that our government helped to create this situation when it granted amnesty to illegal aliens not once, but on two separate occasions. These people are simply taking advantage of stupidity. And then let us acknowledge that a criminal is not simply someone who is a murderer; a criminal is someone who breaks the law. I don’t think the “But your honor, it was only a loaf of bread” argument should work here.

Like Cambridge Lady, I do have a compassionate heart. I have compassion for any man or woman who comes to America legally, and who strives to become an American. I have no compassion at all for individuals who come here as parasites, and who remain such for as long as they can.

There is NOTHING that precluded those people from pursuing LEGAL immigration over all those years, was there?

No sympathy here.

Although they could move to San Francisco (a sanctuary city), though I don't believe they would be welcome setting up a tent on the lawn at Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)'s mansion.

What you may not understand is Mexico considers the western United States an illegally annexed part of Mexico. Calderon has said as much, referring to the "illegal acquisition" of California by the U.S.

Mexico does not speak as a shadow state; they actually speak to us as Britain once spoke of the original 13 colonies - as if we belong to them.

@Fuzzy - Say what? Of course I would never had entered illegally. Maybe "easy" was the wrong word to use but it wasn't a particularly onerous task to be given permission to enter the USA. Why are these people having to enter illegally?

And no, I don't wish to exploit or abuse immigrants - I thought you knew me better than that by now :( - I am all for allowing immigrants to come and fill jobs as necessary and for employers to be compelled to adhere to minimum wage requirements and basic employees' rights. I do not support the idea of people immigrating for welfare in the UK or elsewhere. This problem exists in the UK but is highly exaggerated by certain tabloid newspapers :S

Holier than thou - no! I'm just totally pee-ed off with how billions of people have to exist on this planet and then how we in the West - not just the USA - react when they take desperate measures to improve their lot. Which, unless you are a native American, I'm guessing your ancestors did just that. Legal vs illegal is a manmade construct. The needs and the solutions are unchanging.

If I were the American president I would be encouraging US businesses to invest in Mexico, to provide employment and wealth generating possibilities in that country, so fewer people would want to leave and come to the USA.

Cambridge, we all want to help. But we must not give so much that it destroys our ability to help. Does that make sense? We *do* allow immigration, legal immigration, as you know. What is so wrong about having a limit. Our own abilities have a limit. We must understand that and plan accordingly.

I applaud Arizona. They are only making a point of publicizing that they will enforce the Federal law. And the Arizona law is even less stringent than the Federal law that is already on the books. But I doubt that many liberal media outlets discuss that fact.

LL said...

Cambridge Lady - I have business interests in Mexico. I spend about 20% of my time in that country working. Mexican people work for me in Mexico and in the US. I have plans to buy 2000 hectares of land in Mexico and to turn that land from fallow to an agricultural purpose, though I haven't done that yet.

When I enter Mexico, I do it legally with passport and Mexican visa in hand. For to enter Mexico illegally is to invite HARSH sanctions (don't believe me, to the research).

But to the point: This is about VOTES for DEMOCRATS, not about anyone in Washington's love for Mexicans or humanitarian interests. This is cold, hard politics and that is why barack hussein obama's regime has turned a blind eye to illegal immigration. They hoped to give 20 million illegals amnesty and to get 20 million votes.

The Federal government doesn't care about the tens of billions of dollars that State government fork out to care for illegal aliens. Finally Arizona showed some spine. Good for Arizona.

CambridgeLady said...

LL - For what it's worth, I really admire what you are doing. I take your point about votes.

Opus - "But we must not give so much that it destroys our ability to help. " I do understand. There are no easy solutions. I think the onus is also on Americans not to employ people without papers ........ remove the incentive to come and people won't come.

CambridgeLady. How about the illegal alien that the world pleaded to save him from lethal injection in Texas, because he was a 'Mexican National' who they said the US had no right to deal with.
The reason he was on death row was because for his gang initiation he raped two young teenage girls 13 and 14 I believe (One was definitely 14) then shot and killed them them both after-wards.

Is that a little too coarse to bring up? Wonder what the parents of those girls thinks about 'helping those poor people surge across the border just to have a better life' all on the American Tax Payer tab.

Sure there are some folks just trying to get ahead. So what. We all don't drive Rolls Royce either. What about Those poor people having to do with a lousy Chevy Impala.

Anyone trying to get ahead can do it legally and meld into America, not move here illegally then demand we cater to their culture and language.

And the rapist? Hardly a unique situation. Southwestern prisons are reeking of these people. Mexico sends us their trash.

Let's put this in perspective. Do you leave your home open with a sign out front that says Come on In and make yourself at home' ??
Why do you think it's Ok for you to demand that Any American essentially do the same thing?

This is the problem with liberals. As long as it is someone else paying the price for their feel good nonsense, they're fine with anything.

The_Kid said...

CambridgeLady - You say "If I were the American president I would be encouraging US businesses to invest in Mexico, to provide employment and wealth generating possibilities in that country, so fewer people would want to leave and come to the USA."

My response is - Hey, as long as you pay for it. And that is not a personal comment at you. It is simply making a point.
And American businesses have invested in Mexico. Chevrolet engine parts like cylinder heads have been arriving as early as 1979 for sure and probably earlier. I've had one in my own hands stamped Made in Mexico, 1979.
The US currently imports all sorts of things from Mexico, from strawberries to machine parts.

There is nothing lacking here.

Everybody have a good life ? Sure! But on on this rock ? Honestly CL, do you not know how much Pure Evil is out there ?

The majority of all American generosity goes to dictators to help them stay in power to keep their citizens hostage. Haiti, N Korea, Thailand, the Tsunami folks, the Earthquake folks, That retarded meglo-maniac head of Lybia who can't fighure out how to spell his name from day to day- on and on and on. And on. The solution is NOT to drown these vermin with more money.

It's how people like Bill Clinton get rich. They send some vermin 100 million in aid, and 10 million? gets redirected to an offshore account that ole billy has the keys to.

The only solution is to support populations who want change bad enough they are willing to die for it. We'll arm them. Hell, I'll arm them an they can kill the vermin that enslaves them and creates such a bad environment for the rest of us.

You talk about the American Indian.
The real story is about future Americans who broke away from the country of England that was extremely regressive and oppressive. They (England) had it coming. The American Indian got in the way.
That is how things happen on this rock known as Earth. It is not called Heaven for a reason.
Just as the tree grows and stifles all other growth around its root structure, so is human nature.

We think we're so civilized, but we're not. We kill to eat. Even if it's plants we kill to eat.

We require resources to survive. Something has to suffer.

If the Mexicans want a better life so bad, why don't they do a revolution, taking out he government, the corrupt police and federals and make a country for themselves. They live in a beautiful place already.

On the other side of that coin, is why doesn't America just take in EVERYONE. Form every Kenyan who needs a meal to every North Korean who is eating grass today because the idiot kimmy jong spends the money on himself, friends and his million man army instead.

Obviously, you can see it is an absurd notion.

The beauty of life is in the struggle, not the reward. Rewards do not exist without struggle. Life is not a destination, it is a journey. Once you get to the destination, you're dead.

We are being invaded by a foreign Government's agents camouflaged by the peasants sent here to drain the economies of the southern States, and move on inward. They have stated over and again that their mission is to populate the southern states until the numbers are great enough to take back the land for Mexico.
Some do come here for a better life, but like Woodsterman said, 20,000,000 is a force to be reckoned with-GO Back and Take On the oppressing Government of your beloved Nation!
Here locally, I drive by the Wix program, and see Brand New Hummers, Cadillac Escalades, and Mercedes parked all the way on the other side of the parking lot- a city block from the store front Wix's office; carrying small children-in old strollers, with torn jeans and old clothes. To scam the Wix program that we have to pay for. I have heard that they have almost bankrupted California's Wix Program.

Good points all, Kid, but it's never useful to talk about Native Americans to the Brits. They like to forget that we were under British rule until the Revolutionary War and our Declaration of Independence from the British Empire (back when "the sun never set on" it) in 1776. So much easier to forget about that and point the self-righteous finger at "America" (which did not exist then, we were thirteen British colonies, still under tyrannical rule though we'd put an ocean between us and them).

After our independence, of course, we were responsible for breaking promises and generally horrible treatment of Native Americans, but British colonization made it all possible. Personally, for that I thank them. They prefer to revise history a wee bit, though, to feel superior to us. Heh.

What everyone seems to forget, though, is that American Indians had been slaughtering each other--committing genocide on each other--and worse for many, many centuries before the Europeans came. The image of the peaceful Indian at harmony with nature and man is an complete fiction. There were those who abused the Indians, certainly, and that is to be decried. However, the killing for fun and prestige (counting coup, and such), systematic rape, and general violence and brutality that were always a core element of the various American Indian cultures didn't stop until AFTER the Europeans came.

Something like 51% of Americans voted for barack hussein obama. They need to put their money where their mouth is and take illegal alien families into to their homes, feed them, clothe them, pay for their medical care, their transportation and any other insurance requirements. When I see liberals (in California) doing that, they will gain credibility in my eyes. So far -- I haven't seen that with the HOMELESS or with ILLEGAL ALIENS.

The_Kid said...

Opus, Thanks :)

CambridgeLady, American liberals are like the pod people from the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

They point and squeal like 3 year old spoiled brats and act with less class, manners, integrity, accountability and politeness than seems imaginable.

Obama gave the middle finger to all of his political opponents on national TV by scratching the side of his face with it whenever their names were mentioned and those in attendance never failed to squeal with delight.

He called Palin a whore and they squealed with delight. This after an army of lawyers and investigators went to Alaska to dig to China on her and didn't come up with squat outside of a DUI on her husband from decades before and before they were even married.
'Joe the Plumber' asked obama a question during the campaign (when obama walked up to him in his yard with cameras following), let obama reply and made no further comment. The libs decided that this embarrassed obama as he spoke his true feelings (he was sans teleprompters..) about stealing the money of any productive people to give it to the failures of society, so they attacked Joe the Plumber like 8 or 9 year olds would do in a school yard screaming insults, and taunts that had nothing to do with the subject at hand, all presented by our magnificent new presenters.

Now they've got some dude writing a book about Palin and family, who was able to rent the house that is 15 feet away from the Palin house in Wasilla Alaska wiht a deck overlooking most of the Palin property. and this piece of garbage will be spying on them through their windows and anytime the family members are outside the house. The invasion of privacy is extreme. The libs are squealing with delight I can assure you.

... I could go on and describe bottomless levels of hypocrisy, fascism, and unbelievable levels of the worst kinds of adolescence that the left practice day in and day out, but I've now given them enough of my time here.

Imagine having children that are ignorant spoiled brats, and you wake up one day and find them in charge of your household. They go around the neighborhood trashing you to your neighbors with falsehoods, and assist any enemies you may happen to have. Additionally, they are schooled enough to know how to bankrupt you beyond the stone age and put you in a state of affairs that will take decades for you to climb out of if ever, and that is what we have in America with liberal left.

Facts to an American leftie are like garlic to vampires. In fact,t hey are like vampires as they feed on anything for their own pleasure and gain, and truly care less about anyone else. Like pure sociopaths, many have learned to 'say' the right sounding things, but it's all meaningless.
Any of them are deeply concerned about the environment.
The oil spill / leak has been going for 36 days, and the governor of Lousiana - Bobby Jindal - has been pleading with obama to get the Army Corps of Engineers and others down there in an attempt to avoid an environmental disaster - that being the oil making it's way into the marshlands where it will be impossible to clean up. obama has not responded, there is no mention of any of this in the 'news' and the environmentally liberals could care less. They could care less.

Like LL says, they wouldn't lift a
finger to help the homeless or the illegal aliens they care so much about. They sit on the sidelines and demand others take care of them.

Like I said originally, liberals only want the feel good with no investment on their part. They want others to consume less, donate more, give more, and work harder so they don't have to.
