There is no Baucus Bill

From Legal Insurrection. The internet is alive with the sound of people analyzing the CBO's "scoring" of the Max Baucus aka Senate Finance Committee Health Care Bill. Before everyone gets too deeply into their thoughts, please keep in mind the following (get ready, all CAPS, bold, indented signifies a really important concept):
The CBO scored the concepts described by the Baucus Committee. There is no legislative text. None. Baucus and his Democratic colleagues refused to reduce their concepts to actual legislation prior to a vote. Here is the CBO's disclaimer:
CBO and JCT’s analysis is preliminary in large part because the Chairman’s mark, as amended, has not yet been embodied in legislative language.
The Baucus Concepts are disasterous, but that's for another post. For this post, let me get across a simple concept: THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.

Your esteemed Senators on the Senate Finance Committee will not be voting on legislation because THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.

Your esteemed Senators have so little respect for you that some of them are willing to vote in favor of legislation which does not exist because THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.

The actual legislation will be drafted in secret by Harry Reid and a few other people, including staffers whose names and political connections you never will know, and the resulting legislation will be rammed through the Senate and House before anyone gets to read and analyze it.

Months of debate mean nothing. It's all smoke and mirrors by people who think you are too stupid to realize what is going on.

Have I made myself clear on this? THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.

Update: Fausta Wertz understands that There is no Baucus bill. And so do Pundette and Pat in Shreveport who felt my post warranted a News Flash. An overview of the stinkiness of the Concepts (it's not a Bill) starts atDan Riehl's place.

Related - There is a House Bill HR3200 and a Senate HELP Committe Bill, and they stink beyond belief, so take a look at some of these posts to find out why:

Smoke and mirrors. Dog and pony. Lies, deception, slight-of-hand, bullying, extortion, back doors, poison pills, dirty tricks... this crapfest ObamaCare "unwritten" and "unread" legislation is a national Chicago-style scam.

Why would anyone expect anything else? This is how the lowest political animals do things.

One wonders how Harry will do when he leaves office and returns to Nevada, unmasked for the cur that he is.

Maybe he won't be able to go home. Maybe he can live in Massachusetts (does Barney Frank have a spare room?) Tar and feathers are too good for him.

Thanks Opus #6 for the enlightening post. Time to vote on a bill that isn't written - vote on the "concept" of the bill and we'll add the text later? Does that count as TREASON? Or do we need to create another category of crime for this sort of behavior?

I just commented somewhere (I thought it was here but anyway.. ) that the intent of the left is to bring Congress to a vote and hope to pass - nothing.

There is no bill, because their intent is to write the bill as they see fit, after the fact. This is why Baucus has been so crazy against the idea of posting legislation online.

He said it'll take two weeks? I can put it on Blogger in 5 minutes, or buy a domain name and post a .pdf in about 10 minutes.

These clowns need their asses handed to them (please excuse my language, but this is ridiculous). Any Republicans thinking of "bending" need to get bent too...

They load these pillaging bills up with the kitchen sick with no compunction whatsoever mostly so they can't be de-discombobulated...

"CBO and JCT’s analysis is preliminary in large part because the Chairman’s mark, as amended, has not yet been embodied in legislative language."

In other words, this is all BHO BS Bait and Switch, Razzle Dazzle stuff as Laura Ingraham calls it.

Nickie, your doom and gloom comments resonate. I had hoped you would be wrong. Now I see that you spoke with the wisdom of experience.

LL, I am open to applying the word TREASON in this case. These disingenuous back-door dealers are the lowest form of life. They seek to steal freedom and trample the protections of the Constitution.

Opus #6 said...

They want a signed blank check. This is not how our founding fathers set up the country to be run.

Opus #6 said...

Ray, yes. Bait and switch, razzle dazzle. My anger grown by the minute.

Does ANYBODY know what's going on in DC? WHAT BILL IS THERE?
And people are arguing over...WHAT?
WHAT is so hard about writing a short, easy to understand bill? This is all about hiding the facts deeply in legal lingo....scary.

This is downright dirty politics. These deceptive little devils who are in congress. How dare they vote on a bill in which doesn't exist. This backdoor sleeziness full of corruption must stop!

If Dems do this, I think that there is a going to be a huge revolt by the people, and even bigger than the civil rights movement.

BAUCUS,spelled a little differently, is the name of a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans. This guy is a carnival his own self.

You will have plenty of time while waiting in line at the fed. run doctor's office. I suggest it will be time well spent writing checks to anyone whom is not an incumbent in the next election. I might let a conservative slide that has at least spoken up in opposition.

I will never understand the slim that is Washington!

Z, this is truly a consiracy against the American people by Soros and his bought-and-paid-for politicians.

Opus #6 said...

Teresa, I agree. Therewill be a backlash.

Opus #6 said...

Wo, interesting parallel.

Opus #6 said...

Odie, I too am at the end of my patience.

The desperation and dishonesty of the administration keeps getting more and more apparent. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Now, Opus #6, I'm surprised at you! How can you possibly assert "This is not how our founding fathers set up the country to be run"? Don't you know our Founding Fathers were racist? :-) Remember, what a racist says doesn't count (I hope you know I'm being tongue-in-cheek here!)

Michele, thanks, hon. It's been too long since anybody's been "surprised at" me. ;-)
