Penn and Teller--Patriotism and Ambiguity

Thank you Chicago News Bench for posting this video. This was filmed in 2007. I think it has special meaning today.

I'm a little uncomfortable with the use of the word "patriotism" in a blog because of the anger the Obama Nation's minions feel toward those who are so politically incorrect as to use the "P" word. Simply using the word brands you as potentially pro-life, suspiciously pro-military, uncomfortably in favor of private ownership of firearms, as somebody who might attend a church or oppose illegal immigration.

In the historical context, patriots stood between tyranny and freedom on Lexington Green and shed their blood to buy time for others in Concord and they "fired the shot heard round the world." The radical left who are currently in office want to put you on watch lists if you use the "P" word. What a paradox that the word Patriot now means "enemy of the State" in some quarters in Washington DC.

They have been doing this act for many years. I am happy that there are some entertainers who are truly patriotic. I have been a fan of these guys for many, many years and it has been great to see how their act has evolved over time. If you get a chance, check out their Showtime show, "Bullshit." They debunk a lot of stuff in their own way. The Dihydrogen Monoxide petition is classic!
